Third tier Italian side Crotone are 'under judicial administration' due to apparent mafia infiltration.

According to a Reuters report, evidence was found that the infamous 'Ndrangheta mafia had influence in the club’s security and ticketing operations – a regular mafia tactic in Italian football.

The investigation into the criminal activities will mean that the club will continue to be run albeit with court-appointed administrators.

Crotone has said that it is collaborating with the administrators and that the decision by the court to place the club under judicial administration "does not even remotely suggest complicity or connivance by the club, its shareholders, or its managers and collaborators."

Gli Squali finished fourth in Group C of Serie C last season, but were unable to navigate the promotion play-offs.
