Mike Maignan’s return to top form has reignited Milan’s season, but not his contract talks.
The French goalkeeper was decisive again in the 1-0 win over Roma, denying Paulo Dybala from the penalty spot and once more proving his worth as one of Serie A’s best.
Yet off the pitch, negotiations over a renewal have hit an impasse, according to the latest from La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Maignan’s deal expires in 2026, but talks have been frozen for weeks, and the risk of separation grows with each passing game.
Chelsea, who came close to signing him last summer, remain in pole position should he become available, while Bayern Munich and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.
Milan had previously offered a renewal until 2028 worth €5m per season, up from his current €2.8m salary, but discussions stalled. Despite Allegri’s praise for his leadership and professionalism, Maignan could soon be free to negotiate with other clubs from January.

Milan are already scouting replacements, with Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu and Parma’s Zion Suzuki among the early candidates. But for now, Maignan remains irreplaceable: both on and off the pitch.
