It may have been because of San Siro, or it may have been because of the derby feel to yesterday's international match with several Inter players lining up on the opposing side, but Mike Maignan performed like Mike Maignan. The Rossoneri goalkeeper, who produced a particularly vital stop in the closing stages, helped France beat and move above Italy (who, however, had already secured qualification) on the sixth and final matchday of the Nations League.
Les Bleus' 3-1 victory - the same result that occurred in Paris, but with Italy winning on that occasion - saw Didier Deschamps' side finish top of the group due to their better goal difference ahead of the quarter-finals in March. Maignan, who had no chance with Cambiaso's goal that temporarily made it 2-1, reacted quickly to keep out Kean's powerful left-footed effort in stoppage time. Theo Hernández remained on the bench throughout the game.
