Mamelodi Sundowns have turned down the most recent bid for their teenage winger Kutlwano Letlhaku, making it increasingly probable that the player will stay with the club beyond the current transfer window.

The 19-year-old has attracted significant European interest this year, with five offers submitted by four different clubs—two of which originated from Portugal in the last three weeks. There had been growing optimism around a potential transfer, particularly due to the favorable financial structure of the latest proposal and the substantial profit Sundowns stood to make on a player initially acquired at minimal cost just two years ago.

However, Letlhaku and his representatives believe the club has failed to honor earlier commitments. When the U20 Africa Cup of Nations winner initially joined Sundowns, he was reportedly assured that the club would not obstruct a potential move to Europe if such an opportunity emerged.

This situation follows a recent official statement from Sundowns regarding unsettled players, in which the club pledged to maintain open dialogue and negotiation with interested parties—particularly after multiple players attracted attention during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Despite Letlhaku's expressed desire to pursue the transfer for the sake of his career development, sources indicate that Sundowns did not engage in substantive discussions with the Portuguese club. Instead, the club is said to have simply reiterated on two separate occasions that the player was not for sale.
