Man City fans to take aim at Vinícius Jr. with banner during Real Madrid clash | OneFootball

A group of Manchester City supporters have prepared a special banner, to be unveiled during the club’s meeting with Real Madrid later this evening.

The banner in question will be made use of to essentially rub salt in the wounds of Real and star attacker Vinícius Jr, over the Ballon d’Or.

Wide-man Vinícius of course missed out on the ‘Golden Ball’ late last year, despite being the long-term favourite for the prize.

In the end, the accolade went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, with Viní having been forced to make do with 2nd-place.

As much did not go down at all well behind the scenes in Spain’s capital, with Real Madrid, as a club, having made the call to boycott the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

And, as alluded to above, Man City’s fans intend to poke fun at Los Blancos over this behaviour on Tuesday night.

The Premier League champions are of course primed to play host to Carlo Ancelotti’s troops later today, in a Champions League playoff clash.

And the understanding is that the following banner, featuring a photo of Rodri kissing the Ballon d’Or and the famous Oasis lyric ‘stop crying your heart out’ will be unveiled in the stands at The Etihad:
