Manchester City’s injury problems are easing with Erling Haaland and Ederson returning to the squad in Friday's win over Wolves.

The latter started in between the posts at the Etihad Stadium and kept a clean sheet as Man City boosted their chances of Champions League qualification, whilst Haaland was an unused substitute.

Pep Guardiola did note the Wolves game came too soon for the Norwegian to feature, but a full week of training should do the striker the world of good and he can perhaps target some minutes away at Southampton this weekend.

With that said, here’s the latest Manchester City injury news...

John Stones

John Stones has been on the sidelines since he picked up an injury against Real Madrid.

There were initially fears that the centre-back would require surgery on the thigh issue, however it was decided that was not necessary.

It was expected that Stones would be out for up to ten weeks, putting his return at some time this month.

Potential return date: May 2025

Nathan Ake

The defender then underwent surgery on a fracture in his left foot, with the club revealing that it was a problem that had “caused him discomfort during the course of his career”.

Ake faces a race to play against in the Premier League this season, but should be available for the Club World Cup.

Rodri

Rodri is back in full training after missing a huge chunk of the season with an ACL injury sustained last September.

It it just a matter of time before the Spaniard is back in action as Guardiola is simply waiting for the green light from the club's doctors.

"The moment the physio and doctor say that Rodri can start to play minutes and after that he will start to play minutes. But the doctors have to tell me," Guardiola said.

“It was a difficult injury. It was seven months to eleven months more or less the doctors said.

“He feels really good, every day he’s making sessions and sessions but we have to make the step to avoid making a step backwards and being injured again.

“That’s why you need to be careful. Important is one training session and then another one and every time he feels better and better.

“When the doctor says Rodri is stable and he can play, after that he is going to come back.”

Potential return date: May 2025
