Paris Saint-Germain initially opted for a short-term solution by loaning Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season. However, his future is now somewhat settled, as the German club has secured him on a permanent transfer.

Nonetheless, PSG might have dodged a frustrating situation as a new report reveals Simons’ attitude at Leipzig. Still, with the Parisians having a sell-in clause, that could be affected.

Recently, CaughtOffside suggested that Manchester United could have the edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Simons has officially joined RB Leipzig on a permanent deal from PSG. The transfer is valued at €80 million, including add-ons, with an initial fee of €55 million and a sell-on clause.

Romano also noted that Simons’ contract runs until June 2027, though he could move again as soon as this summer, with several clubs already keeping an eye on him.

Although the young standout will be in demand, there red flags that some clubs might see in him, especially after the report from Sport Bild.

On Monday, the German media outlet SportBild takes aim at the Dutchman, accusing him of causing turmoil within the German club since his record transfer this winter.

“When Xavi Simons enters the locker room, he has recently been wearing a particular baseball cap,” SportBild noted in their reporting (h/t Culture PSG). “The words ‘XS 10’ are embroidered in white on the black cap. A symbol of the playmaker’s ego, which is at least as large as his paycheck.”

Moreover, the outlet claims that the Dutchman has gotten a big head, and since his performances on the field haven’t been up to par, it’s starting to create tension internally.

“His teammates feel it, and it causes ripples in the locker room,” SportBild added. “His confidence makes it even difficult to give him advice or warn him. And more and more often, Xavi Simons does whatever he wants.”

Finally, the German media outlet explains that, outside of training and matches, the player and his many advisors accept or reject appointments with media or sponsors at their discretion without consulting RB Leipzig beforehand.

“Some within the club had anticipated this development and had thus viewed his permanent recruitment critically,” SportBild ended.
