A Super Sunday Stalemate on the cards?

Man City v LiverpoolSunday 9 November, 16:30 GMT kick-off

A huge showdown at the Etihad on Sunday but for once it's not the title up for grabs but seemingly who'll be Arsenal's main challengers - with Man City able to all-but kill-off Liverpool's chances with a home win as 4/5 favourites.

That catastrophic four-game losing run Arne Slot's side suffered may have already given them too much to do - defeat here is almost unthinkable if they want to somehow defend their title.

They at least have rebuilt confidence somewhat after beating Villa and then bossing Real Madrid, so there's far more chance of them pulling off the 29/10 win as outsiders than there was a week ago - but this is the ultimate test of whether they've put their problems to bed or just papered over the cracks.

Expect a similar side here as Slot has gone back to basics the last two games, with two clean sheets a welcome relief, but that defence will be under severe strain facing a red-hot Erling Haaland - plus Phil Foden finding his shooting boots during the week.

A draw, also priced 29/10, would suit Arsenal, but it wouldn't be the worst for both of these either, even if they're playing catch up to the Gunners.

The two deciding factors here - with Liverpool's losing run littered with late goals and set pieces have they actually been as bad as results suggested?

And just how will Pep Guardiola go about it? We're used to high-octane brilliant football spectacles when these two meet, but don't be surprised if both sides play it a bit safer, at least to start.

Guardiola changed his style for Arsenal, and with Liverpool vulnerable to set pieces and quick, long balls on the counter, there can't be a better team or player to hit those than City to Haaland.

Szoboszlai worth a look for a goal

What to do with Haaland is a big question betting-wise. He's 8/11 anytime scorer so a bit skinny but then again he's bagged in 15 of 17 games for club and country this season. He's probably best saved for Bet Builders or maybe go the 3/1 on Haaland first scorer as even though Foden bagged twice in midweek the Norwegian is still by far City's biggest threat.

He's scored just once in four league games against the Reds though (and not yet been on the winning side either).

Foden is 21/10 to continue where he left off against Dortmund, while for Liverpool Mohamed Salah is 15/8 and has a decent record against City - which includes grabbing a goal and assist in both games against them last season.

Huge Ekitike has been lively since arriving and is another 21/10 shout, while Dominik Szoboszlai could be the value option at 6/1 anytime goalscorer after bagging at the Etihad last season. If Slot keeps him in his more advanced role he'll be a big goal threat.

The Hungarian has been Liverpool's best player this season even when asked to play deeper or even at right-back, but getting forward is his strength with a goal and three assists in his last four games. A goal or assist is the more cautious play at 21/10 but midfielders have had some joy scoring against City so I'm happy to roll the dice on him to find the net again.

Pick of the player props in 11/1 Bet Builder

I always like a Bet Builder in these games and we'll stick with Szoboszlai to start as he's a nice price at 11/10 for a shot on target after eight in his last four games, while Tijjani Reijnders also likes to have a crack at goal and is 5/6 to hit the target - which he's managed in five of seven home games.

Liverpool have had the most shots in the league and if Pep sits back a bit then Gianluigi Donnarumma could be busy - he's made seven saves in two games so we'll back him for another three at 10/11.

And the finisher for this four-timer is Ibrahima Konate to give away a first-half foul at 5/6. He's given away four in four games and with Haaland to face up front and also Jeremy Doku coming from the left when the centre half has to cover then conditions look perfect for another.
