Man City face free-scoring Dortmund in a tricky Champions League test tonight

Manchester City are back in Champions League action tonight as they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad Stadium. It is officially the halfway point of this season’s League Phase and both sides are well placed to finish in the top eight, thus avoiding a knockout round play-off early in the new year.

Man City go into the game in good form, losing just one of their last 12 games across all competitions and took four points off Monaco and Villarreal in their recent outings in Europe. Victory tonight would see Pep Guardiola’s side leapfrog Real Madrid and reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in the table, and perhaps more importantly, serve as the ideal preparation for Sunday’s Premier League title showdown with Liverpool.

The visitors too are bidding to boost their qualification hopes after winning two of their opening three matches. The Bundesliga giants are also averaging four goals per game in the Champions League which means and exciting fixture is on the cards.
