Pep Guardiola’s side face a difficult test against Leeds
Phil Foden is pushing to start for Manchester City against Leeds, but Jeremy Doku remains a doubt for the Premier League clash.
Man City face Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday evening, hoping to cut the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to two points ahead of their game at home to Chelsea.
However, Pep Guardiola has remained tight-lipped regarding Doku’s availability after the winger returned to training on Thursday after missing the last seven matches in a row.
Doku sustained a calf injury during Man City’s 2-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League at the end of January, and was considered “not ready” by Guardiola to return against Newcastle last weekend.
An update on the winger was provided by the City manager in the pre-match press conference on Friday as he said: “Yesterday he made the first training.
“I don’t know [if Doku will be involved against Leeds] we’ll talk with the doctors and officials afterwards.”
Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol remain sidelined with long-term injuries, but Max Alleyne is back training with the main group after missing the Newcastle win with a knock sustained in the FA Cup fourth round win over Salford.
The youngster, though, may struggle to earn a place in the matchday squad with Ruben Dias, John Stones, Abdukodir Khusanov and Nathan Ake all fit.

Guardiola could be tempted to name the same team that started the win over Newcastle as Nico O’Reilly’s brace should give him the edge over Tijjani Reijnders in midfield.
Rayan Cherki is an option after an impressive cameo off the bench last weekend, while Foden’s recent history against Leeds - a brace in the reverse fixture earlier in the season - may earn him a start over Omar Marmoush in attack.
Injured: Kovacic, Gvardiol
Doubts: Alleyne, Doku
