Manchester United are reportedly ready to step up their attempts to land Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but they will have to overcome competition from two other suitors.

The Red Devils might be primarily occupied in their negotiations with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, by they also intend to address other departments throughout the summer transfer campaign, and this could include the middle of the park.

According to Goal Brazil, United are one of three clubs that have already enquired about Ederson’s availability. The player’s other suitors are Inter Milan and Juventus who are looking to keep the player on Italian soil.

The source claims that three clubs have already opened talks with the player’s entourage, asking about his availability this summer.

The 26-year-old is considered one of the most complete midfielders in Serie A, combining stamina and strength and impressive technical aspects. Former England and Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello had lauded him as an ‘out of this world’ player.

Hence, the Brazilian had been one of the first names on Gian Piero Gasperini’s team sheet over the past three years. Last summer, the experienced tactician refused to consider any offers for Ederson who had already attracted the interest of Man Utd among other suitors, the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Nevertheless, Gasperini has already left Bergamo to sign for Roma, which could see Atalanta adopting a slightly more lenient approach.

While La Dea might be willing to discuss a move for their prized asset, they have set their price tag at circa £52 million, and are unlikely to grant any discounts.

Nevertheless, one could argue that Ederson is worth every penny, as he represents the ideal profile to link up with Bruno Fernandes in the double pivot, as he’s capable of adding some much-needed physicality to Ruben Amorim’s midfield department.
