Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir was reportedly offered to Turkey’s big four clubs – Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Besiktas and Trabzonspor – but they all turned down the chance to sign him.

Bayindir joined United in the summer of 2023 from Fenerbahce in a deal worth around £4.3m.

He arrived at the club at the same time as Andre Onana, but neither goalkeeper has managed to impress. Despite Onana’s error-prone performances, Bayindir has failed to dislodge him as United’s number one.

Bayindir made his Premier League debut this season after stepping in for Onana, who was dropped following two costly errors in the first leg of United’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Olympique Lyonnais. However, Bayindir was unable to make the most of his opportunity, conceding four goals in a heavy defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park.

The Turkey international finished the 2024/25 campaign with 10 appearances to his name across all competitions. He conceded 18 goals in that period.

Much like Onana, Bayindir’s performances were marred by costly mistakes, and there’s a growing consensus that he isn’t the long-term solution to United’s goalkeeping problems.

There have been suggestions that Bayindir could leave Old Trafford this summer in search of regular first-team minutes elsewhere. A report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that United are open to listening to offers for him.

Now, there’s been an update on Bayindir’s situation, nd it doesn’t bode well for the goalkeeper as he looks to secure a move away and continue his career elsewhere.

According to Turkish news outlet A Sport [via Fotomac], Bayindir’s agent approached the four biggest club in Turkey to offer his client, but none showed any interest in adding him to their ranks.

However, while one club has shown a willingness to sign the 27-year-old, he himself isn’t particularly enthusiastic about the move.

“Manchester United have put Altay Bayındır on their sale list.”

“Altay Bayındır’s manager contacted representatives of the big four teams but received negative feedback.”

“Çaykur Rizespor has shown interest in the player, but the national goalkeeper wants to continue in Europe if the big four teams do not sign him.”

Bayindir has two years left on his United contract.
