Alphonso Davies was long considered unsellable at FC Bayern – but this attitude is beginning to crumble. Behind the scenes, those responsible are increasingly considering a possible scenario that seemed unthinkable just a few months ago
Despite his long-term contract until 2030, selling the Canadian international is no longer a taboo subject, mainly due to one factor that has increasingly come to the fore in recent months: his susceptibility to injury
In sporting terms, Davies‘ quality is beyond question. For years, the 25-year-old was one of the most dynamic full-backs in world soccer and a formative player at FC Bayern
However, the setbacks have become more frequent of late. Davies has been repeatedly thwarted by minor and major injuries. Since March 2025 alone, he has missed over 40 competitive matches and has been out of action for more than 300 days. He is currently out again with a thigh strain
This development has not gone unnoticed at Säbener Straße, where there is increasing criticism internally as to how reliably the Canadian can still be counted on in the long term – especially in a position that relies heavily on pace and explosiveness

As BILD head of soccer Christian Falk reports, Bayern would in principle be open to talks in the summer – but only under clear conditions. „If an offer is on the table, there would be a discussion,“ says Falk. So a sale is by no means decided, but it is no longer ruled out either
This new openness shows that those responsible are now weighing up the sporting qualities more heavily against the health risks
At the same time, interest from abroad is gathering pace, with Manchester United in particular keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Davies
The Red Devils are said to have already dealt with the player in the past and are now considered a serious candidate for a possible summer transfer. English media are also reporting concrete interest and possible talks in the summer
Despite all the speculation, the starting position for FC Bayern remains comfortable, with the club having the upper hand thanks to the contract extension until 2030
A sale is therefore only an option if a financially attractive offer is received. In view of a market value of around €45 million, Munich’s pain threshold is likely to be significantly higher
One thing is clear: the Davies situation has changed. An untouchable key player has become a player who those responsible are taking a close look at – and for the first time are seriously considering a possible departure
