Man United legend labels Barcelona star ‘my new favourite player’ after display vs Newcastle | OneFootball

Former Manchester United star Paul Scholes has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of a member of the midfield ranks at La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

The player in question? Pedri.

The name of youngster Pedri has of course taken its place front and centre in the football chatter across all of Europe over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Spanish international conjured up another utterly brilliant individual display.

En route to a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the Champions League, Pedri ran proceedings from his berth at the base of Barcelona’s midfield, combining everything from touch to dribbling, passing, decision-making and defensive work.

Whilst it was Marcus Rashford who took Man of the Match honours owing to his match-winning brace, it is instead Pedri who has in turn been singled out by many as the fixture’s true standout performer.

And as alluded to above, one individual who certainly appears to be of such an opinion is Paul Scholes.

A midfield icon in his own right, ex-England international Scholes took to Instagram in the aftermath of last night’s action at St. James’ Park, unveiling a photo of Pedri accompanied by the caption:

‘My new favourite footballer’
