Indeed, the likes of Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden have been key performers for their respective teams.

Rooney puts Foden ahead of Bellingham

In a recent interaction with Talksport, former Manchester United striker and current Plymouth manager Wayne Rooney was asked to comment on the England team, which comprises all three of these aforementioned players.

Rooney, though, had no hesitating in labelling Foden as the best of the lot, choosing the Man City star ahead of stars like Bellingham.

“For me, the best is Phil Foden. I know he hasn’t played much this season at Manchester City, but at his best, he’s the best player in England,” Rooney said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Although Rooney acknowledged the performances of Bellingham and Palmer, he doubled down on his statement on Foden.

“Cole Palmer has been sensational since he left for Chelsea and you can also talk about everything Jude Bellingham is doing at Real Madrid, but for me the best is Foden. I really enjoy watching him,” he added.

An England fan, though, will be glad to have all three players available in the squad. In fact, England’s interim manager Lee Carlsey may have a difficult time choosing between these three players ahead of the Three Lions’ upcoming matches.

During the second international break of the season, England are set to take on Greece and Finland.

Real Madrid star Bellingham is likely to make an appearance, after missing the last two matches due to injury.
