Manchester United have advanced in negotiations to sanction Antony’s return to Real Betis before deadline day.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Brazilian international is now ‘one step away’ from joining Betis, with the ‘last details’ remaining to be hashed out between the two clubs.

It remains to be seen how exactly the sides will reach an agreement, given the Spanish outfit’s precarious financial situation has them hoping to secure Antony’s arrival on a loan basis, while United want to get him off the books once and for all with a permanent sale.

In regard to his valuation, it’s thought a fee in the region of £25-30 million would be enough for the Reds to cut ties with a player they shelled out £81 million for back in 2022. Since then, Antony has recorded only 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances for the club.

Yet, it’s his resurgent form in Seville that has prompted United to increase their demands for the wantaway winger.

After swapping Old Trafford for the Villamarin Stadium back in January, the 25-year-old looked a player reborn whilst plying his trade in the green and white of Los Verdiblancos.

Antony scored nine goals and contributed a further five assists in the 26 matches he featured in, playing an influential role in the team reaching the UEFA Conference League final and clinching a Europa League spot by finishing sixth-placed in La Liga.

Prior to his mid-season departure, Antony had not started a single Premier League match, but went on to start 24 times under Manuel Pellegrini.

Alas, it comes as no surprise that the attacker is so adamant about repaying Pellegrini’s faith by spending the 2025/2026 campaign at his disposal.
