Man United reach full agreement with Atalanta for Ederson

Manchester United and Atalanta have struck a full agreement for the transfer of Ederson, the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic has confirmed.

United are prioritising midfield reinforcements in the upcoming window and talks of a swoop for Ederson have ramped up over the past few weeks.

United have been linked with the Brazilian for some time, and given that his contract expires next summer, this transfer window offers their best opportunity to secure him.

An agreement over personal terms was struck, as Ederson made it clear he was prioritising United ahead of all other potential destinations. Over the weekend, Fabrizio Romano revealed that he would be surprised if the midfielder does not seal a switch to Old Trafford.

Now, Ornstein has confirmed that everything is in place for Ederson to join United.

According to Ornstein, “Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign midfielder Ederson, in an early statement of intent ahead of next season.”

“The 26-year-old Brazilian will move to Old Trafford for €40.5million fixed fee plus €4.5m in potential add-ons. Personal terms are in place on a proposed contract until June 2030, while there is an option to extend by an additional 12 months.”

“Ederson must still undergo a medical and all parties intend to complete the switch in early July.”

“He has long been targeted by a host of top clubs but prioritised United and, given he would become a free agent in the summer of 2027, they were able to negotiate a price considerably lower than figures quoted in previous markets.”

Romano has also given his here we go, confirming that the transfer has been completed.
