Manchester United have taken initial steps to understand the terms of a potential deal for Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos, amid Premier League interest, Glorioso 1904 reports.

The report adds United are evaluating the cost and feasibility of an approach for Benfica’s No 20. His release clause is set at 100 million euros, and he is also being tracked by Fulham, with Napoli, Inter and Roma interested in Italy.

Benfica are not inclined to ease the midfielder’s exit. The José Mourinho pupil is comfortable at the Luz, and the club do not plan to negotiate for now, viewing a potential value rise at the next World Cup.

There are voices who believe a switch to Italy could suit him. That view was aired by Mozart, his former coach, in a recent interview.

Ríos, valued at 22 million euros, has made 42 appearances this season for Benfica, spanning 24 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 12 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, two in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,368 minutes he has five goals and five assists.
