Leeds United resume their Premier League survival bid at Manchester United on Monday, with injuries shaping both squads. Victory at West Ham in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final came at a cost. Big blows leave three out and seven doubts, with a Whites player expected back.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Michael Carrick’s side last played on the Friday before the break, a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth when Junior Kroupi’s penalty denied victory. By the 8pm kick-off at Old Trafford, they will have been inactive for 23 days. Despite the pause, United still face injuries and a suspension.
Benjamin Sesko is a doubt after a fitness issue saw him withdraw from Slovenia duty in March, though reports suggest he could return. Lisandro Martinez has missed the last five games with a calf problem and is thought to be close to returning, but remains uncertain. Matthijs de Ligt is a major doubt, effectively out since November with a back issue, with attempts under way to bring him back as quickly as possible.
Bryan Mbeumo is a slight doubt and expected back, though he was withdrawn at half-time at Bournemouth with a knock and then missed Cameroon duty.
For Leeds, Gabriel Gudmundsson missed West Ham with a minor groin issue and was not risked. Joe Rodon rolled his ankle early in the second half, and Daniel Farke hopes he will be available after assessment and with time before the game.
Both camps face late calls before the Old Trafford meeting.
