Manchester United could consider a proposal to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku on loan before the January transfer window closes next Monday, according to The Athletic.
The Blues have made the 27-year-old France international forward available for a permanent exit, but a loan move to Old Trafford is a more likely outcome.
The Red Devils want to bolster their attacking ranks as Alejandro Garnacho could leave, while Marcus Rashford has fallen out of favour with manager Ruben Amorim.
He could have played his last game for the club even if he does not seal an exit before the deadline.
Man United have had Nkunku on their radar since he was at RB Leipzig, where he bagged 70 goals and 54 assists in 172 appearances, and they have kept tabs on him at Chelsea.
A move away from the London club, where he has tallied 16 goals and four assists in 42 games, appeals to the Frenchman given his lack of regular game time.
He could be perfect for Amorim’s style of play at United. The former Paris Saint-Germain star brings the necessary experience, quality and versatility to the table.
Nkunku is a talented forward, but he has not been able to prove his worth at Chelsea. The opportunity to do so with the Red Devils could appeal to him.
United need hungry players ready to give their all on the pitch in every game. The Chelsea man fits the bill, as he will be desperate to show what he can do when given an extended run of games.
A loan deal makes sense for both parties as they can decide to go their separate ways at the end of the season if the move does not yield the desired results.
However, gambling on him could prove to be a smart decision.
