Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi has no desire to linger at the German club any longer, amidst long-standing interest from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old is a youth product of Bayern Munich, who rose to stardom during his time at RB Salzburg, before moving to Dortmund in the summer of 2022 on a €30 million deal.

The German international is tied to the Bundesliga giants with a contract running until June 2027. But while BVB have been eager to tie him down to a long-term deal, the player has made it abundantly clear that he wishes to embark on a new career chapter.

Man Utd on alert as Karim Adeyemi wants Premier League move

Adeyemi has been linked with Man Utd on several occasions in recent months, with some sources identifying him as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer campaign.

These links have also been confirmed by Bild, who reveal that the winger has once again turned down a contract offer from Dortmund.

As the famous German newspaper explains, the Munich native has reiterated his desire to leave the club, while identifying the Premier League as his favourite destination.

This should be music to the ears of the Man Utd officials, especially the club’s Head of Recruitment, Christopher Vivell, who is all too familiar with the player, having overseen his growth during their time together in Salzburg.

With his contract expiring in 2027, Adeyemi should be available on a cut-price deal, as Dortmund risk losing him for free a year later.

Why Adeyemi may not be United’s primary target to bolster the wings

Adeyemi is a skilful forward capable of playing almost anywhere in the final third, almost like Bryan Mbeumo, but with different attributes. The German might not be as powerful as the Cameroonian, but he’s renowned for his electric pace and explosiveness.

The 24-year-old was also applauded for his ‘extraordinary’ sportsmanship last August, when he refused to embark on an inviting counterattack while his opponent was on the ground, instead opting to stop the play.

However, the left-footed Adeyemi primarily plays as a right winger, which is the position that suits him most. Man Utd already have an abundance of options in this role, as Mbeumo and Amad Diallo both prefer to play on the right side as well.

On the other hand, Man Utd are seeking a right-footed winger who is comfortable playing on the left flank. In a recent press conference, Carrick admitted that United could try to sign a left winger in the summer.

Therefore, RB Leipzig’s teenager Yan Diomande might emerge as the ultimate target to bolster MUFC’s attack this summer since he’s considered a natural left winger.
