Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring River Plate midfielder Franco Mastantuono ahead of the summer transfer window, though they aren’t the only ones interested. Several top European clubs are also in the mix.
Diario AS reports that a bidding war could emerge for the highly-rated 17-year-old, with Manchester United and Chelsea both showing strong interest. Mastantuono’s contract includes a €45 million release clause.
Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs on the player, but they have yet to make a formal offer. Mastantuono is contracted with River Plate until 2026 and won’t be eligible to move to Europe until after his 18th birthday in August, following his appearance at the Club World Cup.
Transfer insider César Luis Merlo previously reported that Manchester United have been the most serious suitor so far. The club has scouted Mastantuono in person and knows that meeting the €45 million clause will be key to any potential deal.

Fichajes reports that Mastantuono, one of the most promising young talents in Argentine football, has made a decision about his future: he will not be leaving River Plate for now and plans to wait for a move to Real Madrid until the summer of 2026. Despite concrete interest from clubs like Manchester United and Olympique de Marseille, the 17-year-old has a clear plan and is determined to stick to it.
The report also states that with a contract running until the end of 2026, the player’s camp believes there’s no need to rush his departure. Those close to him have made it clear that Real Madrid remains his preferred destination, and the wait is part of a strategy to ensure he arrives in Europe at the right time.
Recently, TyC Sports’ Germán García Grova reported that PSG have opened talks to sign Mastantuono and made him a priority target. The French club joins a growing list of teams inquiring about the young Argentine.
Furthermore, TNT Sports’ Argentina’s Maximiliano Grillo reported that Mastantuono will stay at River throughout this year. The club plans to extend his contract, which expires in 2026, and increase his release clause. It is currently €45 million, and the club intends to raise it to at least €50 million.
