Man Utd’s two potential Europa League opponents in the last-16 are confirmed | OneFootball

Manchester United have discovered their potential Europa League last-16 opponents after the knockout round play-offs.

United could face AZ Alkmaar or Real Sociedad in the European competition.

The Dutch outfit won the first leg of the play-off 4-1 against Galatasaray. A 2-2 draw on the road sealed a 6-3 aggregate win for them.

Sociedad booked their spot after a resounding 7-3 aggregate triumph over Midtjylland.

United don’t have a fond memory of facing Spanish clubs in Europe. They have met Sociedad on four occasions since 2021.

The Red Devils have won two of those meetings alongside one draw and one defeat.

The draw for the rest of the competition will be held later today at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

United will play the first leg on the road on March 6 with the return leg at Old Trafford one week later.

The Red Devils will face one of Ajax, FCSB, Lyon or Eintracht Frankfurt if they make the last eight of the Europa League.
