Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City booked their place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup with an emphatic 6-nil win over Al Ain. Pep Guardiola made 11 changes to the starting lineup that beat Wydad AC 2-nil, and the players that started did the job as Pep Guardiola’s side eased to victory.
A brace from Ilkay Gundogan and goals from Claudio Echeverri, Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb and Rayan Cherki saw Manchester City pick up a dominant victory. Pep Guardiola’s side thoroughly out classed Al Ain on the night. City will take on Juventus in their final match of the group stage to determine who will progress as group winners of Group G.
Here are the City player ratings from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Stefan Ortega-6.5/10: Made one terrific save in the first half and played the sweeper keeper role well.
Manuel Akanji-7/10: Played well alongside Gvardiol at centre-back.
Abdukodir Khusanov-7/10: Defended well playing at right-back. His pace and strength at right-back may be something Pep Guardiola persists with during the 25/26 season.
Josko Gvardiol-7/10: A polished performance from Gvardiol. Went about his work with minimal fuss.
Rayan Ait-Nouri-8.5/10: An impressive debut from the Algerian international. Got forward well and he will be a threat going forward for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Nico- 7/10: A tidy performance in midfield from the Spanish midfielder. Was composed on the ball and played well as a number six.
Ilkay Gundogan-9/10: Scored a brace and was Manchester City’s man-of-the-match in my opinion.
Bernardo Silva-7.5/10: A captain’s display from Bernardo. Provided an assist for Ilkay Gundogan’s second goal of the night.
Matheus Nunes-7.5/10: Started on the right wing and offered a threat going forward. A quality showing from Nunes.
Claudio Echeverri-7.5/10: Some nice touches and he scored a sublime free kick to score his first goal for Manchester City. Substituted at halftime which may have been a precaution due to a heavy knock he sustained in the first half.
Erling Haaland-7.5/10: Converted a penalty and grabbed an assist for Rayan Cherki’s first Manchester City goal. A good display from Haaland.
Phil Foden-7/10: Foden continued his strong form from Manchester City’s opening match. He looks to have his touch back and is gliding around the pitch again.
Rodri-6.5/10: Got through another 30 minutes and is getting his touch back.
Oscar Bobb-7.5/10: Scored late on and was a constant threat on the right wing. He is building his form nicely over the past two matches.
Rayan Cherki-8/10: A sublime cameo performance from Cherki. Scored his first Manchester City goal and his passing and array of flicks were mesmerising.
Ruben Dias-6/10: Had little to do after replacing Josko Gvardiol at centre-back.
