Talks have now been opened over the possibility of a permanent transfer between Manchester City and Como this summer concerning Maximo Perrone.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who arrived at the Etihad Stadium midway through the eventual Treble-winning season of 2022/23, is currently excelling in Italian football on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

Supporters were given a showcase of his excellent capabilities during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States last summer, with Perrone scoring in a 3-4 defeat to Celtic most notably having appeared from the bench at half-time.

Speaking last summer on the experience of being a part of Manchester City’s first-team squad, Perrone said, “They’ve shown we’re the best team in the world again.

“Even though they didn’t obtain all titles like last season, the way they play shows why they’re the best. It’s a place you enjoy and learn a lot. I’m enjoying being back at Manchester City every day.”

Despite the strong showing Stateside, Manchester City negotiated a loan deal for the player to Como under the coaching guidance of midfield icon Cesc Fabregas and it appears as though his time in Italian football will not be coming to an end this summer.

According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A side have now activated their option to extend the loan deal of Maximo Perrone from Manchester City into the 2025/26 season.

However, it is further revealed that simultaneously the two clubs are in conversations over a permanent transfer for the Argentine midfielder.

It remains to be seen just how much Manchester City would look to demand for a player of Perrone’s qualities given the high-regard in which he continues to be held within the Etihad Stadium.

Officials working on the deal within the City Football Academy are expected to negotiate clauses into any permanent agreement, in order to remain invested into the Argentine’s future and ensure they have some say in his direction.

Previous deals for some of the club’s best young talents have seen Manchester City include buy-back options or sell-on clauses, while others have permitted officials to have first refusal on the idea of making a bid in future.
