Oscar Bobb has returned to the matchday squad for Manchester City against Leicester City in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

The 21-year-old has missed this season so far after sustaining a leg break in the days following City’s Community Shield victory on penalties over rivals Manchester United in August.

Bobb returned to training in the early parts of the calendar year but manager Pep Guardiola has been cautious in reintegrating the Norwegian back into first-team action.

However, Guardiola needs all the help he can get as fifth-placed Manchester City look to finish in the Premier League top four and win an eighth FA Cup title in the club’s history.

City’s hopes of a strong finish to a drab season have been given a significant boost ahead of kick-off against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City side on Wednesday.

Bobb has been named on the bench alongside a rich array of talent as Guardiola shuffles his pack to keep his squad fit amidst a crucial season run-in.

The Blues sealed their place in a seventh straight FA Cup semi-final with a comeback 2-1 victory over Bournemouth on the weekend, with Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush on the scoresheet at the Vitality Stadium.

Haaland hauled off with an ankle injury in the second half and is set to be out of action for five to seven weeks, which will see him miss a major part of the run-in.

However, Bobb’s return is a welcome boost for Guardiola and co, who have a major rebuilding job on their hands in the summer transfer window.

Bobb enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the first-team ranks last term and is expected to be a key part of Guardiola’s plans in the years to come.
