Manchester City and Sunderland have confirmed their starting lineups ahead of today’s crucial Premier League fixture at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s side has made progress this season and enters this back after winning their past two matches against Leeds and Fulham. But those two wins were in entertaining and tight matches and City will have to be better to beat a quality Sunderland outfit. Régis Le Bris’ side sits sixth in the Premier League table and has been impressive this season. They do look to be a team built to cause City issues today.
Mateo Kovacic and Rodri will miss today’s match for Manchester City. There is no change to the City injury situation at this stage. Rodri will miss his seventh consecutive match and Pep Guardiola explained yesterday how desperate he is to have him back in the fold for his team. It now remains to be seen how much longer Rodri is out of action for.
Here are the starting lineups for today’s match.
Pep Guardiola has made one change to the starting lineup that began Manchester City’s last match against Fulham. In comes Rayan Cherki. Tijjani Reijnders drops to the bench for today’s match.
Starting lineup: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol, Nico O’Reilly, Nico, Bernardo Silva (C), Phil Foden, Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland.
Substitute: Trafford, Reijnders, Ake, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Savinho, Khusanov, Bobb, Lewis.
