In a recent report, De Telegraaf stated that Manchester City are keeping tabs on Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read. It is believed that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Arsenal in the race to land the Dutch full-back next year.

Read’s Impressive Form In Dutch Football

Read has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Eredivisie club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the right side of their backline. The 19-year-old has participated in 13 matches for Feyenoord this season, scoring one goal and securing three assists across various competitions.

The Dutch talent has performed his defensive duties well as he has made 14 tackles, ten blocks, eight interceptions and 19 clearances in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from the right flank, based on his pass completion rate of 79% in the Dutch first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Dutch club will run out in the summer of 2029. Therefore, Man City would have to make a big offer if they are serious about recruiting the Dutch talent next year.

Manchester City Are Keeping Tabs On Read: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Read is a solid tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is an accurate passer of the ball as well.

However, there are some question marks over whether the Dutch sensation can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if Man City manage to bring him on board next year.

We can expect Read to add more quality and depth to Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s defence. He is good enough to compete with Matheus Nunes and Rico Lewis for a regular starting spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 19, Read has the potential to be a future star in English football. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. All in all, Guardiola would be wise to move in for him next year.
