Manchester City defender Lewis signs first professional deal | OneFootball

Manchester City defender Sacha Lewis has signed her first professional contract with the club.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Cityzens this afternoon.

The 18-year-old has come through the Manchester City academy system and she has already appeared in senior team matchday squads. Lewis has been invited into the first team off the back of her strong performances for the club’s Next Gen side. The defender is rated very highly by Manchester City and is being tipped for a big future in the game.

On the international stage, Lewis has represented England at various youth levels up to and including Under-19 level.

After signing her first professional terms at The Joie Stadium, Lewis said “It’s amazing. A lot of hard work was put in and it’s such a great achievement. I’m proud.

“It means so much, it means even more because I support City. Being here in the Academy, not many people get this opportunity so I’m very grateful.”

Lewis will continue to develop in the first team environment in the short-term with a view to pushing for minutes. Manchester City could consider a loan move for the youngster at some point in the future if playing opportunities are in short supply.
