Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City squad have now found out their full route to a potential spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Final.
The recently de-throned Premier League champions of the last four seasons have enjoyed a perfect route to the knockout rounds of the global cup competition, establishing themselves as the only side to have won all three of their group stage matches.
The tournament got off to a relatively strong start in Philadelphia despite some complications across the 90 minutes on matchday one, as goals from Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku dismissed of Moroccan giants Wydad AC.
Victory in the opening contest was then followed up by a rout over the UAE’s Al Ain, with City netting six goals without reply to set up a final matchday meeting with Juventus – knowing that only a win would secure top spot.
A similarly convincing performance would then be put on show against much sterner opposition, as strikes from Jeremy Doku, an own goal, Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Savinho secured a 2-5 win in Orlando, Florida.
The win over the Italian giants in-turn secured top spot in Group G at the Club World Cup to face second place in Group H, which has since emerged as being Al-Hilal – with the two sides to meet on Monday 30 June at 21:00 EDT at the Camping World Stadium.
Having now found out that Manchester City will be placed on the left side of FIFA’s tournament bracket – with all fixture dates, kick-off times, and stadia pre-determined – Pep Guardiola’s players know their exact path to a potential Final at the tournament.
Should Manchester City manage to dismiss of Al-Hilal in next week’s last-16 tie in Florida, they will then face the winner of Inter against Fluminense, with that possible quarter-final clash to take place on 4 July at 20:00 BST at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.
The other pairing of last-16 ties sees Palmeiras take on Botafogo and Benfica against Chelsea, with the winner of those matches meeting in the quarter-finals, and the last-eight winners possibly coming up against Manchester City.
Should Pep Guardiola and his players make it to the semi-final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, that last-four fixture is scheduled to take place at New York’s MetLife Stadium on 8 July at 20:00 BST.
The Final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup is set to take place at New York’s MetLife Stadium on 13 July at 20:00 BST.
