Ederson believes Manchester City have already decided on their next manager beyond Pep Guardiola, with the club being ‘well-prepared’ for their next phase.

Rumours have been circulating throughout the course of the week over how Manchester City may look or develop beyond the likes of their outgoing Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain and particularly Pep Guardiola.

The former will be bringing an end to a 12-year stay at the Etihad Stadium at the end of the ongoing season, with Sporting CP’s Hugo Viana agreeing to become his successor after a six-month introductory period to smoothen the transition.

As for Pep Guardiola, the 53-year-old continues to make up his mind regarding his own future, insisting during a recent media conference that he would make the appropriate people away when that decision is finally made.

For the time being, Manchester City will continue to be linked to some of the most high-profile coaches in the business, and that has led the club towards the likes of Sporting’s Ruben Amorim and Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso in recent days.

Speaking during an interview with ESPN Brazil over the course of the international break, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson believes the club’s hierarchy already have their next manager in mind.

“I believe the club already has the next manager in mind for the day Pep (Guardiola) decides to leave and they will try to follow the same line of work,” the Brazil international admitted.

“Of course it’d be a great loss, we’re talking about the best manager in the world, but I see a really well-prepared club for the post-Pep era.”

The Manchester City manager himself is also of the opinion that the club will be well-prepared for life without him, insisting that as was the case with Txiki Begiristain and his confirmed exit, those making decisions will already have replacements lined-up.

That was the view brought across during his first media conference after the October international break, as Pep Guardiola said on Friday afternoon, “I’m pretty sure the Club have options when Txiki [Begiristain] leaves, and have options when Pep will leave.

“Sooner or later it’s going to happen, and they are prepared. So it’s not going to be a surprise.”
