Talks between Manchester City and Newcastle United over Tino Livramento have been placed on ‘stand-by’, according to new information.

The 22-year-old defender is believed to be the Etihad Stadium club’s number one priority in their search for reinforcement in the right-back position, as the side prepares to part ways with Kyle Walker on a permanent basis.

The veteran full-back, who has been sensational during his long-standing association with Manchester City after arriving in 2017, is being phased out of the club this summer despite it being unlikely to do a permanent deal with his short-term loan side, AC Milan.

Tino Livramento is not alone in being targeted for a place in Pep Guardiola’s wide full-back roles this summer, with an agreement on the verge of completion for Wolves and Algeria left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

While discussions over a deal for the 24-year-old were relatively straightforward, and a medical having been completed on Saturday, matters concerning the Newcastle United star are held in a different regard.

Now, according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, talks between Manchester City and Newcastle United over a deal for Tino Livramento have now been placed on stand-by.

It is detailed that the discussions concerning the England international are ‘currently complicated’ with Newcastle standing firm on their asking price for the defender and insist that they want to keep him at the club.

As such, it has been ‘almost impossible’ for Manchester City to agree on terms in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.

In the meantime, there remains a confidence that three new names will be present and available for selection by Pep Guardiola at this summer’s tournament hosted by the United States.

As mentioned, Rayan Ait-Nouri is due to sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium over the course of the ongoing weekend, followed shortly after by Netherlands international midfielder Tijjani Reijnders – joining from AC Milan.

That leaves City with work to do to get Rayan Cherki over the line and through the doors as their final arrival before the initial transfer deadline on Tuesday evening, until the market re-opens after the FIFA Club World Cup.

A deal for the highly-rated France international is believed to be edging closer to completion with talks involving City officials and Olympique Lyonnais ongoing throughout the weekend to agree upon a fee for the 21-year-old.
