This would seal the deal for the highly regarded 18-year-old, who has emerged as one of the top young talents in Brazilian and South American football in 2024.

Reis, a player known for his technical ability, calm ball distribution, and corrective defending, has caught the attention of top clubs, including Real Madrid. While he still needs to improve on his defensive strength, his potential is undeniable.

This swift operation is likely to satisfy Palmeiras’ president, Leila Pereira, who has reportedly set a price of over €30 million for Reis, making Manchester City’s offer quite appealing.

If the €40 million deal materialises, Reis would become the most expensive Brazilian centre-back to be transferred to Europe, surpassing previous high-profile moves.

In recent years, Palmeiras have seen other prized players leave for significant amounts, such as Endrick’s €72 million move to Real Madrid in December 2022 and Estevao’s’ €65 million transfer to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, for Real Madrid, this development represents a setback as they had identified Reis as a key target to strengthen their defensive options.

With Eder Militao still recovering from a second serious knee injury, Madrid’s search for a new centre-back to fill the gap becomes even more crucial.
