According to journalist Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA, Real Madrid have identified Manchester City midfield superstar Rodri as one of their top priorities to strengthen the centre of midfield in the summer.
The Premier League heavyweights, for their part, are already fully aware that the Merengues are keeping a close eye on the Spanish midfielder’s situation at the Etihad Stadium.
Within Real Madrid, Rodri is seen as an almost perfect fit for the type of midfielder the club wants to add.
The sporting department is searching for a dominant defensive midfielder, someone capable of controlling the tactical structure of the team while also providing leadership and composure in possession.
Rodri fits that description precisely. The Spanish international has become a key figure in the system built by Pep Guardiola, and for several seasons he has been widely regarded as one of the most influential holding midfielders in world football.

Manchester City are already aware of the situation. At the Etihad, they know that Real Madrid have been monitoring Rodri for some time as a strategic reinforcement for the midfield.
The fact that his contract expires in 2027 is also a major factor. However, at this stage there is no formal negotiation or immediate move underway.
For now, Rodri remains one of the central pillars of Manchester City’s squad. Guardiola considers him irreplaceable within the team’s tactical structure, especially due to his intelligence, positional discipline and ability to dictate the rhythm of matches.
The English club are fully aware that losing a player with Rodri’s profile would represent a major sporting blow, which explains why any potential future move would likely be extremely complex.
