A brand new fourth kit for the 2025/26 season will be physically released by Manchester City in the coming weeks, but perhaps not worn on-field by Pep Guardiola’s stars.

City’s relationship with Puma has seen a wide range of innovative kit launches in recent years, blending traditional colours with bold modern experiments, while the introduction of alternate kits beyond the usual home, away, and third shirts has become increasingly common.

EA Sports, whose EA Sports FC gaming franchise has staggering global reach, has played a growing role in football culture over the course of the last decade in particular, blurring the lines between virtual and real-life experiences.

Manchester City have been at the forefront of such trends, and previous special-edition kits tied to EA Sports were only available within the video game itself, creating a sense of exclusivity and a collector’s market among digital players.

However, with the demand for physical merchandise higher than ever, the club and Puma are moving towards tangible products that fans can wear and own, with the timing of the launch adding further buzz around the launch of EA Sports’ latest FC game.

According to the information of FootyHeadlines, Manchester City are due to physically release a brand new 2025/26 fourth kit in collaboration with EA Sports and manufactured by Puma.

The design of the shirt is said to feature a dark green base with ‘geometric triangle patterns inspired by EA Sports FC branding’, with light blue used for sponsorship logos and the club’s crest, as well as neon detailing.

The report further reveals that the kit is a special collaboration between Puma and EA Sports FC, and will be available from September 16. While other kits produced alongside EA Sports were exclusive to the video game, this shirt is expected to be physically released.

For supporters, the big question is whether the shirt will remain purely a fan item or make an appearance in competitive fixtures.

While some of Manchester City’s rivals have used fourth kits sparingly in domestic cup ties, Pep Guardiola’s side are currently not expected to wear the shirt regularly this season, if at all, although that remains speculation at this stage.

Instead, it could be marketed primarily as a lifestyle product, merging the popularity of gaming with football culture. Looking ahead, the move raises the prospect of more frequent collaborations between City, Puma, and EA Sports, particularly as digital integration with EA Sports FC deepens.

With the appetite for limited-edition releases stronger than ever, this Manchester City fourth shirt could be the first of many crossover projects that blur the line between the virtual pitch and the Etihad Stadium turf.
