Manchester City have won each of their last six Premier League meetings with Leicester, as well as 12 of their last 14 league encounters overall.
Can Manchester City move three points closer to making sure they'll be in next season's Champions League? On Sunday, the Sky Blues kept their hopes of silverware alive by reaching the FA Cup semi-finals for a seventh successive season. They actually fell behind early on at Bournemouth, but second half goals from Erling Braut Håland and then Omar Marmoush secured victory. The Citizens will now face Nottingham Forest at Wembley later this month, firm favourites to capture the trophy in May.
Back in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola's team start the night fifth, thereby occupying the final Champions League position, but their form will need to improve if they're to remain there. Man City have won just one of their last four league outings, most-recently held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton, despite leading twice. Coming up on Sunday is an intriguing Manchester derby at Old Trafford but, before then, it would be a humungous shock if the Sky Blues did not collect all three points here.
That's, in part, due to the fact Leicester City travel 84 miles north in horrendous form. It's 17 days since Ruud van Nistelrooy's team were last in action, suffering yet another defeat, this time swatted aside 3-0 by Manchester United. The Foxes have therefore lost six on the spin, as well as 13 of their last 14 fixtures, failing to score in 11 of these matches, their most-recent goal at the King Power coming 115 days ago.
This leaves Leicester nine points from safety, almost certain to be beaten by the drop, also set for a severe points deduction upon their return to the EFL too. Fair to say, if the Foxes departed the Etihad victorious on Wednesday, it would rank amongst the biggest upsets in Premier League history.
Erling Braut Håland was pictured departing Dean Court in a protective boot on Sunday, thereby surely leaving the striker's participation in this game in doubt. Meantime, Nathan Aké, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Rodri and Oscar Bobb remain sidelined, but Savinho could return; he did not travel to Dorset to attend the birth of his child.
On Sunday, Abdukodir Khusanov was hooked at half time and replaced by youngster Nico O'Reilly, who changed the game from left-back, so has he earnt a start this time? Nico González, Jérémy Doku and Jack Grealish will also be hoping to return to the lineup, with the weekend match-winner Omar Marmoush set to lead the line, if Håland is indeed sidelined.
Omar Marmoush scored his fifth goal in sky blue on Sunday, most-notably bagging a hat-trick against Newcastle in February, and he'll fancy his chances of adding to that tally here.
Harry Souttar and Abdul Fatawu remain sidelined but Ricardo Pereira, who famously scored a winner against Man City on Boxing Day 2018, could be in line to feature, having seen just six minutes of action since suffering a serious hamstring injury on 2 November.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has switched to a back five in recent weeks, not that this has done much to stem the flow of defeats, so what will he try here, seeking a miracle?
Leicester City predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (5-4-1): Hermansen; Justin, Coady, Faes, Thomas, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumaré, El Khannouss, J Ayew; Vardy.
Jamie Vardy has scored nine career goals against Man City, only netting against Arsenal, Watford, Spurs and Liverpool with greater frequency, so can he add to this tally? It seems unlikely.
