Barcelona are likely to part ways with Marc Casado, but he may not be the only midfielder to leave the Spotify Camp Nou this summer. Marc Bernal has attracted interest in recent weeks, and one club in particular is readying a move for the La Masia graduate.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have both shown interest in Bernal over the course of the summer, although neither have come close to convincing Barcelona or the player himself of the move. But things could soon be different, with Manchester City ready to make a move in the event that Rodri Hernandez leaves (via Sport).

Rodri has attracted strong interest from Real Madrid in recent weeks, especially on the back of his performances for Spain at the 2026 World Cup. Given that he’s showing no signs of wanting to extend his contract, which expires next summer, Man City have started looking for his replacement, and one of the leading candidates is Bernal.

Barcelona not keen on Bernal sale

Man City have already signed Elliot Anderson for over €120m, but with Rodri, Nico Gonzalez and Mateo Kovacic emerging as candidates to leave, they want at least one more central midfielder. Bernal is one of the options they like, although Barcelona are still clear that no offers will be entertained for one of their brightest talents.

Barcelona are protected by the fact that Bernal has three years left on the contract he signed last May when he turned 18, although they already have plans to offer a new deal. The idea had been to explore this later in the year, but the interest being shown in the teenager could mean that talks take place sooner rather than later.

It would be a big surprise if Bernal left Barcelona this summer, although it does appear that Man City will try to tempt him away.
