In the Daily Briefing, journalist Christian Falk stated that Manchester United are among the clubs hoping to land Bayern Munich ace Kim Min-jae. It has been claimed that the Red Devils would have to rival Liverpool in the race to sign the South Korean centre-half this summer.
Kim enjoyed a solid campaign at the Munich club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them on the defensive third of the pitch. The South Korean talent was involved in 43 matches for Bayern last season, scoring three times in all competitions.
The 28-year-old did well to make 35 tackles, 23 blocks and 37 interceptions in the Bundesliga. He was even tidy when distributing possession from the back based on his pass completion rate of 92.5% in the German top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Red Devils to snap him up on the cheap this off-season.

Kim is a tough-tackling defender who can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and can use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. The South Korean talent is even proficient at playing his way out from the back. However, it remains to be seen whether he can handle the high intensity of the Premier League if Man United end up recruiting him this summer.
We can expect Kim to add more bite and steel to Ruben Amorim’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford next season.
At 28, Kim is playing in his prime and has what it takes to make an immediate impact for the Mancunian club. However, Amorim needs to give him some time to settle into life at the Theatre of Dreams.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing a defender of Kim’s skill set. With all things considered, he would be a decent option for the Red Devils to consider this summer.
