In a recent report, The Independent mentioned that Manchester United are big admirers of Atalanta playmaker Ederson. It is believed that the Red Devils are keeping tabs on the Brazilian talent ahead of a potential move for him in the future.

Ederson’s Decent Form In Serie A Last Season

Ederson managed to put in a run of eye-catching displays at the centre of Atalanta’s midfield in the previous campaign. The 26-year-old registered five goals and earned a couple of assists in 49 matches for the Italian club last season across various competitions.

The Brazilian sensation anchored the midfield well after he made 52 tackles, 30 blocks and 35 interceptions per 90 minutes in Serie A. He even distributed the ball accurately from midfield as he completed 86.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting the Brazilian midfield ace in this transfer window.

Will Ederson Be A Good Fit For Manchester United?

Ederson is a tough-tackling midfielder who can scan the danger well to make some crucial interceptions for his team at the centre of the park. He usually clears his lines when needed and is a decent distributor of the ball.

The Brazilian playmaker can even chip in by scoring a few important goals for his side going forward. Ederson is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.

Ederson would bring more bite and steel to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club this season.

At 26, Ederson will only get better over the next few years. Thus, he would be a great fit for Man United‘s needs in the long run. With all things considered, the Red Devils should consider going all out to bring him on board before the end of this transfer window.
