In a recent report, The Sun claimed that Manchester United are eyeing a move for AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan. It is believed that the Red Devils are hoping to acquire the services of the French custodian on a free transfer next summer.

Maignan’s Impressive Form In Serie A This Season

Maignan has made a strong start to this campaign as he has already put in a few impressive displays in goal for the Italian club. The French goalie has featured in four matches for AC Milan this season, conceding two goals and earning three clean sheets in multiple competitions.

The 30-year-old is still among the best keepers in European football. Therefore, the Red Devils would do well to bring him on board next year.

His current contract at San Siro will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Man United would be open to coming to a pre-contract agreement with him this January.

Will Maignan Be A Good Fit For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Maignan can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing with confidence on the field. He is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make a few world-class saves at the back for his team.

The French keeper doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when being chased down by the opposition attackers. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to snap him up next year.

Maignan has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and would no doubt enhance the quality of Ruben Amorim’s first team. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 30, Maignan has still got a few good years left in him to play at his best. Thus, he would be a great fit for Amorim’s needs in the short term. With all things considered, the Red Devils should try everything they can to sign him on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
