In a recent report, journalist Danny Rust mentioned that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Sporting CP defender Zeno Debast. It has been stated that the Red Devils have identified the Belgian centre-back as a target for next year.
Debast had a solid campaign at the Portuguese club as he put in a handful of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The Belgian talent netted two goals and grabbed four assists in 48 matches for Sporting last season across various competitions.
The 21-year-old proved his worth as one of the best young centre-halves at the Portuguese club in the previous campaign. Hence, it is no surprise that Man United are planning to get him on board in the future.
His current contract at Sporting will run out in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for the Red Devils to devise a move for Debast on the cheap next year.

Debast is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and can even play his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.91m, the Belgian sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, only time will tell whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to bring him on board this summer.
We can expect Debast to add more bite and steel to Ruben Amorim’s defence. He is good enough to compete for regular first-team football at Old Trafford in the coming years.
At 21, Debast has the potential to be a future star in English football. Thus, it is only logical for the Red Devils to try and bring him on board this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Amorim needs to give him some time to adjust to life in English football.
