Manchester United are keeping tabs on Brentford striker Igor Thiago ahead of the summer transfer window, according to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs.

Man United manager Michael Carrick will look to strengthen in attack at the Old Trafford club to launch a title challenge next season.

Thiago is on the radar of the Red Devils after the 24-year-old Brazil international bagged 25 goals across all competitions in 2025-26.

However, a move for the Bees hitman will only be pursued if Joshua Zirkzee leaves Man United this summer.

The Dutchman did not impress in his second season at the Theatre of Dreams, scoring just two goals in 26 appearances.

Zirkzee started just five Premier League games during the campaign, but he wants to stay and fight for his place.

However, the pre-season could be key to a decision on his future as clubs in Italy, Turkey and Saudi Arabia are making calls to his representatives.

The 25-year-old is waiting to see what the future holds for him at Man United, and the club could go for Thiago if he leaves.

“While it is very initial and player-led at this stage, Man United are just starting to look at the market in the older and more experienced category of strikers,” Jacobs told The United Stand.

“With one or two exceptions like Igor Thiago – in case Joshua Zirkzee leaves.”

The Red Devils need a quality number 9 if they want to challenge for major trophies next season, and the Brazilian could be perfect for them.

Benjamin Sesko impressed last term, bagging 11 league goals in 30 appearances, but Thiago scored 22 times in the Premier League and is an upgrade on the Slovenian.

He has proven himself in just a short time in England after impressive stints in the Belgian Pro League and Bulgarian First League, and he could be open to joining a big club.

It remains to be seen whether Man United will make any concrete move for the Brazilian, but suitors are expected to come calling this summer if he impresses at the World Cup.
