In a recent report, The Times claimed that Manchester United have set their sights on Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils are showing interest in recruiting the Portugal international, who is open to a return to the Premier League.

Neves’ Impressive Form In Saudi Football

Neves is having a decent campaign at the Saudi club as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net six times and picked up three assists in 20 appearances for Al-Hilal this season across all fronts.

The Portuguese talent has proven his worth in the middle of the park based on his average of 1.78 shots per 90 minutes in the Saudi Pro League (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Saudi club will expire at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap this January or on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

Will Neves Be A Decent Signing For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Neves is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

The Portuguese talent is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if needed. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man United if they can devise a way to get a deal over the line for him next year.

We can expect Neves to add more quality to Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club and could serve as a decent successor to Casemiro at Old Trafford.

At 28, Neves is playing in his prime, which makes him a decent signing for the Red Devils to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign.
