Manchester United’s search for left-back reinforcements has reportedly turned to Germany, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown emerging as a target.

The 22-year-old German international has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the Bundesliga, recording four goals and four assists in 33 appearances.

Left-back has been a notable vulnerability for United. Luke Shaw is the first choice and has stayed fit throughout the 2025/26 season, where he started all 38 league games.

However, United’s return to Europe has prompted the club to seek greater depth in that position, especially with Tyrell Malacia set to depart when his contract expires next month.

Known for his blistering pace and well-rounded game, Brown is comfortable as a traditional left-back, aggressive wing-back or tucking into midfield.

His rapid rise culminated in a senior debut for Germany and a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

However, any deal for the Frankfurt defender will not be straightforward. Brown’s technical quality and versatility have placed him on the radar of Europe’s elite.

Frankfurt are holding out for a hefty valuation of around €60 million (£52m) for their prized asset.

United are also keeping tabs on domestic options such as Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall and Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Hall faces an uncertain future at St James’ Park, but Lewis-Skelly is unlikely to leave the Emirates Stadium despite his desire for more game time.
