In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Manchester United have identified Sporting CP winger Francisco Trincao as a target. It is understood that the Red Devils are showing interest in acquiring the services of the Portuguese wide player next year.

Trincao’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football

Trincao is having an excellent campaign in Portuguese football as he has put in a string of impressive displays on the right side of Sporting’s attack. The 25-year-old has scored five goals and earned one assist in seven matches for the Portuguese outfit this season in all competitions.

The Portuguese talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 3.81 shots per 90 minutes in Liga Portugal. He has kept 26.3% of his attempts on target. Trincao was even accurate when distributing the ball in the final third after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in the Portuguese top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Sporting will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, Man United would have to make a convincing offer if they want to get Trincao on board next year.

Will Trincao Be A Decent Fit For Manchester United?

Trincao is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The Portuguese talent can chip in by scoring his fair share of goals from the right flank. Trincao is primarily a right-winger but can also play as a left-sided wide player or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League.

Trincao would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Ruben Amorim’s frontline. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting role at the Mancunian club.

At 25, Trincao has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Man United’s needs this January or at the end of this campaign. However, the Red Devils have to give him some time before they can get the best out of the talented winger in English football.
