Manchester United have made a key change to Old Trafford in a bid to enhance club revenues this season, reports The Daily Mail.

According to the newspaper, United have increased the number of seats in some areas of their iconic home.

This will essentially see the club host more match-going supporters and in the process, generate more money.

The Mail notes, “Manchester United’s drive to increase revenues has led to a rare increase in the capacity at Old Trafford.”

“As part of previous plans, entrances were widened at the scoreboard end of the ground to cater for an extended platform for fans who use wheelchairs.”

“However, those plans were changed following consultation with supporters and, as a result, dozens of new seats have now been reinstalled in one of the affected areas.”

Mike Keegan explains that since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his partial investment in the Red Devils earlier this year in February, there have been efforts to not only implement austerity measures but also to identify ways of boosting revenues.

It’s believed that Ratcliffe and INEOS are eager for United to remain compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, hence their actions – some of which have proven to be extremely unpopular both internally and among fans.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United cancelled lunchboxes for matchday staff.

The Red Devils also cut by half the number of programmes usually given to corporate fans.

This latest change to Old Trafford comes even as the United owners consider their options regarding what to do with the stadium.

At the moment, the two main options being contemplated are the refurbishment of Old Trafford or the construction of an entirely new state-of-the-art arena. A final decision on this is expected before the turn of the year.
