Man Utd secure vital win at Anfield with a number of impressive performers at Anfield
Manchester United made it back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim as they secured a 2-1 win away to Liverpool - their first win at Anfield since 2016.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United the dream start as he latched onto Amad Diallo’s perfectly weighted pass before finishing past Giorgi Mamardashvili inside two minutes.
United then should have doubled their lead when Bruno Fernandes fired wide from Amad’s cut-back.
Cody Gakpo got Liverpool back on level terms after 78 minutes, and it looked as though they would go on to take all three points.
Harry Maguire, though, rose highest from a Fernandes cross to head United back into the lead with six minutes to play and consign Liverpool to a fourth defeat in a row in all competitions.
Sam Tabuteau was at Anfield to rate the Man United players...
Senne Lammens 7
United’s new No1. didn’t have much to do despite Liverpool’s late pressure. Still, he made a big save when called upon to deny Alexander Isak in the first-half.
Matthijs De Ligt 7
Gakpo caused him a lot of problems, but he recovered well as United held on for a precious three points.
Harry Maguire 8
You can never count Maguire out. His place in the side continues to be questioned, but he came up trumps with the winning goal. Dominant in both boxes.
Luke Shaw 7
Showed great composure amidst a bubbling atmosphere at Anfield. Comfortable taking the ball under pressure and defending stoically.
Amad 8
His partnership with Mbeumo is really growing. A lovely slide pass released the Cameroonian inside the area, and he finished coolly to give United the lead. Had the run of Kerkez all afternoon.
Bruno Fernandes 8
His quick feet started the move that led to United’s opener before setting up Maguire’s winner. Should have doubled his side’s lead when found free in the area by Amad. A superb performance that highlighted his best attributes.
Casemiro 7
His quick passes out of pressure gave United a platform in the centre of the park. Came off moments after conceding a rash yellow card.
Diogo Dalot 7
Did well up against Mohammed Salah, who looks a shadow of his former self right now - made the most defensive contributions of any United player.
Mason Mount 7
If he can stay fit, he is the archetypal player for Amorim’s system. He was denied a second goal in as many games as Mamardashvili saved well after the ball broke to the United midfielder.
Bryan Mbeumo 8
Gave United the dream start with a well-taken goal as Amorim’s decision not to start a recognised striker paid off.

Matheus Cunha 7
Dropped deep to provide another option in midfield. His movement opened up space for Mbeumo in behind, and the pair stretched Liverpool’s defence superbly.
Substitutes:
Manuel Ugarte 6
Got stuck into his defensive work as United stood firm in the face of mounting Liverpool pressure.
Patrick Dorgu 4
Couldn’t get up to speed with the game as Liverpool surged forward in search of goals. A sloppy performance from the wing-back.
Benjamin Sesko 6
His best work came defensively, getting his head to the ball and holding possession to relieve pressure.
Kobbie Mainoo N/A
Will have been frustrated not to start, but came on and dug deep as United secured a huge victory at Anfield.
Leny Yoro 6
Helped United over the line after Maguire had headed Amorim’s side back into the lead.
