The 196th Manchester derby ended in a 0-0 draw, as Manchester United and Manchester City failed to light up the day. Ruben Amorim’s side, however, looked the more likely to find the breakthrough. Unfortunately, they could not get the all-important goal in the match. At the back, they were disciplined and did very well to disrupt the visitors’ attempts to build play. When City did get through, André Onana did enough to keep them out. The result means United remains 13th in the Premier League table.

Ruben Amorim made a couple of changes to his lineup. Harry Maguire came in for the injured Matthijs de Ligt, while up front, Rasmus Højlund replaced Joshua Zirkzee. The home side started very sharp, with Alejandro Garnacho making a surging run that forced Ruben Dias into a yellow-card challenge. United looked the more dangerous in transition, breaking with intent. However, despite getting the ball into the box on multiple occasions, nothing came of it. Meanwhile, the visitors had plenty of possession but rarely threatened, and the first half ended goalless.

The second half continued much in the same rhythm. Apart from one half-chance for Phil Foden, the visitors never truly looked like scoring at Old Trafford. Manchester United came close with a few chances of their own, but Ederson remained unbreached. After the substitutions, United took control of the game, and City struggled to get the ball away from their own goal. However, despite the pressure, nothing came off it, and the match ended without a goal.
