In a recent report, talkSPORT mentioned that Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes is open to a move to Saudi Arabia next summer. It has been claimed that the Red Devils refused to let the Portuguese talent leave this summer, but a move to Saudi Arabia could transpire for him at the end of this campaign.

Fernandes’ Impressive Form In The Premier League

Fernandes enjoyed a decent campaign at the Mancunian club despite struggling to help them find consistency in the Premier League. The Portugal international made 57 appearances for Man United last season, scoring 19 times and grabbing 19 assists in all competitions.

The 30-year-old managed to shine at times in the final third as he averaged 2.77 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 28% of his attempts on target. Fernandes was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 80.9% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Old Trafford will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Ruben Amorim was under no immediate need to cash in on him in the recently concluded summer transfer window.

Should Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim Let Fernandes Go Next Summer?

Fernandes can shoot the ball with power from long range and has got the vision to cut open the opponent’s defence with a killer pass in the final third. The experienced playmaker is a good dribbler with the ball as well. However, he has got a low defensive work-rate off the ball.

Still, on his day, the Portuguese sensation can be a match-winner for his team. He mainly operates in the number ten position but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if required.

Fernandes remains one of the first names in Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s teamsheet. However, there are some concerns over his leadership qualities on the pitch.

At 30, Fernandes has still got a few good years left in him to play at a high level. Thus, it is only fair to the player if Man United lets him go next summer when he will have just a year left in his contract. Amorim would be wise to cash in on him and use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement.
