Manchester United are ‘pushing’ to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim wants to add Semenyo to his squad, with the Red Devils among the frontrunners to land the 25-year-old. United view Semenyo as an ideal addition, given his athleticism and adaptability.

The winger has scored eight goals in the Premier League so far this season, adding three assists, and has a release clause of £65m that can be activated early in next month’s window.

Manchester City are also keen on Semenyo, while Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are long-term admirers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it’s the Manchester clubs leading the race. Liverpool’s focus for January is a centre-back signing, though the Reds could change that stance after Alexander Isak’s broken leg at Spurs. Tottenham, meanwhile, are prepared to offer Semenyo a lucrative deal but are considered outsiders.

“Man United have made a decision internally and also public. Ruben Amorim explained that Manchester United will not go for short term signings,” Romano said on Manchester United’s transfer plans this month.

“Ruben also said in private meetings with the directors, I don’t want player for 2-3 months, and then we already know they’re leaving in the summer. He wants players for the future.

“Manchester United are pushing and pushing to try get the deal done for Antoine Semenyo. Man United against Manchester City, this is the aituation as of today. Also today contracts took place between Semenyo’s camp and United and City.

“Semenyo will decide soon and my feeling is we’ll have a Semenyo here we go in this January transfer window.”
